We mean it when we say: we love seeing the happy faces that our end solutions provide!

My Area 9 Enterprise team and I were recently asked about our purpose – our why – during a workshop where we put into practice Simon Sinek’s The Golden Circle theory.

Many might know what I am referring to when I say we went through an exercise of “Start with the Why?” But for those who don’t:

Sinek explains that ‘Why’ is probably the most important message that an organization or individual can communicate as this is what inspires others to action. ‘Start With Why’ is how you explain your purpose and the reason you exist and behave as you do. Sinek’s theory is that successfully communicating the passion behind the ‘Why’ is a way to communicate with the listener’s limbic brain. This is the part of our anatomy that processes feelings such as trust and loyalty – as well as decision-making.

So what’s our team’s why?

Well, that one is in the works to be revealed soon, so watch this space! But the recurring theme for our team was that we love problem solving and seeing, hearing or reading happiness from our customers who tell us the end solution really worked.

And I realised during this exercise, we really do what we say we love to do, and an example of this in practice happened at a recent conference we attended.

I wanted to share the problem that an attendee posed to us that they weren’t able to solve for a while – a challenge that potentially other businesses and teams might also face. So, I do hope this is a useful tip.

Comala application for secure, external Confluence sharing

Confluence of course is a great online space to create, capture, and collaborate on any project or idea, and used mostly internally. Many of us also use Confluence as an internal wiki and knowledge base.

However, there are times when we want to share this knowledge externally – with end users, clients, consultants etc. – in a controlled and secure manner.

How can we do this without accidentally sending both incorrect information and/or open our whole Confluence to the public?

Here’s our solution – use Comala Document Management – a supported plugin on Atlassian Marketplace, built by Appfire. The application supports customised workflows and lifecycle management for Confluence documentation.

We suggested using two of Comala’s applications to allow for secure external sharing of some Confluence pages:

  • Create a document review and publishing workflow using Comala Document Management that facilitated the review and release of information.
  • Use the  Comala Publishing application to automatically publish the approved document into a publicly available space in confluence.

Please reach out if you need a hand with using Comala

Well, we certainly did see a very happy face when we suggested this solution on the spot. And it is that feeling that you get when you see a happy face – which of course makes you also happy – that I think is a core part of our team’s “why.”

I hope anyone with similar challenges as the above can apply Comala. If you need assistance or have any questions, please reach out. Happy to always chat all things Atlassian and problem solving using IT.
